When I retired in 2001 I finally had time to study painting and drawing. What a wonderful feeling when I sold my first painting at my first art show! Most of my inspiration at the moment comes from around my home in Steveston, though my travels in France, Scotland and New Zealand also feature in my paintings.
I try in my paintings to concentrate on the colours and light of the subject and I always strive to get sunshine down on paper. There are two exceptions – the autumn colours and rain clouds of the Highlands of Scotland and the mists hovering over Finn Slough.I have exhibited at the Burnaby Rhododendron Festival, the annual Finn Slough Art Show, Fraser River Festival of the Arts, Doors Open event in Richmond, Gulf of Georgia Cannery, Galleria Gallery in Richmond, etc. My paintings have featured in the posters for several of these art shows, three being selected for the official brochure and poster published by the City of Richmond for the first Doors Open event.
