Eileen was born in China, raised in Hong Kong and immigrated to Canada in 1968. After
graduating from the B.C. Institute of Technology in Nuclear Medicine and Chemistry, Eileen
began working in the field of health care. Because she wanted to explore a new aspect of life
and something related to her roots, she began studying Chinese brush painting in 1994,
learning from several Chinese master painters throughout the years. Her love of nature
coincides with the beautiful expressions of nature revealed in this art form. As an active
member of the Federation of Canadian Artists since 1998, Eileen has held several solo
exhibitions in B.C. and participated in many juried group shows locally and overseas,
including the Canadian Society of Painters in Water Colour 77th annual juried exhibition in
Halifax, the Carit-Arte 07 at the Municipal Art Gallery Rivas Birones of Vilagarcia De Arousa
of Spain and XVI Collective Painting and Sculptures Exhibition, Concello de Cangas of Spain.
Her work has received several awards which include First Place at the Juried Arts
2006 Exhibition of the Surrey Arts Centre.
Eileen is also an active volunteer in the arts community. She has served on the Board
of the Burnaby Arts Council from 1998 to 2002, chaired the Burnaby Artwalk and
Studio Tour. As a member of the Art Teacher Association of B.C., Eileen has
presented Chinese Watercolour Workshops in several of the Art Teachers'
Conferences. In 2007, she ventured as a Children book illustrator: The Dream Jar,
published in 2008 by Tutkam Books Inc. of Edmonton, Canada.
Having lived in Canada for most of her life, she enjoys the blending of the Western
cultures with this Eastern art form.
